Working alliance for group supervision
Prospective candidates for group supervision are initially offered a number of individual supervision sessions prior to joining a group. The individual supervision contract is also the basis for group supervision alongside the group guidelines below.
The supervision group is usually composed of four supervisees and a supervisor. Together we are responsible for the work of the group, which meets fortnightly for ninety minutes.
Sharing your work in a focused manner is an important part of accessing help from the group. You will each find your own way to do this.
What happens in the group is confidential to it. The supervisor receives supervision of supervision, in which the commitment to confidentiality is also respected.
Individual supervisions may be offered alongside the group when necessary, so that supervision is attuned to the caseload and experience of the
counsellor concerned.
It is important to attend the group promptly and for complete sessions. You are asked to arrive ready to work together, and to minimise interruptions. If you have to be absent, normally we expect you to inform the group in advance. In cases of short notice, please leave a telephone message with the supervisor.
You are asked to commit to being in the group for at least a year. Please offer at least four sessions notice before leaving the group, in order to allow the group to work on issues of separation. The group will be given ample notice of any new members joining.
Group supervision fees are charged annually, payable monthly in advance, independent of attendance, and at a different rate per hour for any individual work. Fees are due on the first session of the month. For information about current rates, please contact Ruach.
